Introduction
This past Saturday was not just another day on the calendar; it was a milestone for us at ChildrenWhoCode. We conducted our first-ever school workshop at Kendriya Vidyalaya №3, Patiala, Punjab.
The workshop was designed to introduce children to the fascinating world of artificial intelligence (AI), and the day was filled with wonder, learning, and a whole lot of fun!
What We Covered

Basics of AI and Machine Learning
We started the day by demystifying AI and machine learning. Through simple explanations and relatable examples, we laid the foundation for the more hands-on activities that would follow.
Real-Time Scenarios
We showcased how AI is seamlessly integrated into our daily lives. From Netflix recommendations to Google’s search algorithms, we helped the children understand the omnipresence of AI.
Fun Interactive Demos
One of the highlights was a demo where students trained their own emotion recognition models using a tool called Teachable Machine. This hands-on experience allowed them to grasp the practical applications of machine learning in a fun and interactive way.
Hands-on Activities
Beyond the demos, the students took their learning to the next level by creating their own classification models. One student developed a model to identify plant species, while another trained his model on male and female voices for voice recognition. The creativity on display was truly inspiring.
Quiz and Gifts
We wrapped up the workshop with a quiz that tested the students’ understanding of the day’s lessons. The excitement was palpable as they answered questions, eager to show off their newly acquired knowledge.
The Young Innovators
